Meet the Editorial Team

SteepedBlack is maintained through a small editorial workflow led by site editor Mara Ellis. The work is not built around a large panel, certification program, or institutional claim. It is built around careful organization: what a reader can see in the leaf, taste in the cup, adjust in the brew, and compare when buying black tea.

Each page starts with a practical reader question, then moves through observable details such as leaf form, liquor color, steeping time, strength, aroma, astringency, storage condition, and package language. When a topic touches caffeine, wellness, or personal tolerance, the wording stays cautious and avoids medical promises.

Editorial review stays close to the tea itself: leaf appearance, brewed cup character, method notes, and revision marks.

How topics are chosen

The queue is shaped by common black tea decisions: choosing a style, reading a package, adjusting steeping time, describing flavor, storing leaves, or comparing loose leaf and tea bags.

How drafts are checked

Drafts are reviewed for concrete tea cues, modest claims, clear brewing language, and usefulness to readers who are trying to make a better next cup or purchase choice.

How pages are revised

Older pages may be tightened when wording becomes too vague, too promotional, too certain, or too far from the real objects and methods readers encounter.
